The thesis supervisor
Each doctoral student is supervised by an accredited thesis supervisor. Co-supervision is possible under the conditions set by the Doctoral School and the committee concerned. The thesis supervisor helps choose the topic, organises regular meetings, ensures the scientific level and originality of the work, and provides the necessary working conditions (equipment, documentation, participation in scientific events).
The doctoral student
Doctoral students respect research ethics and the rules of the Doctoral School, attend the training, conferences and seminars offered, and keep their supervisor informed of the progress of their work and any difficulties. After the defence, they provide the Doctoral School with information on their professional situation for at least five years.
Thesis monitoring
- A thesis monitoring committee is set up at first registration.
- At the end of the first year, the doctoral student presents the progress of the project to this committee.
- Every year, the thesis supervisor writes a progress report, attached to the re-registration application.
The charter of doctoral studies
Signed at first registration by the doctoral student, the thesis supervisor, the head of the laboratory, the director of the Doctoral School and the director of ENIM, the charter sets out the commitments of each party.
In case of difficulty
The charter provides for a mediation procedure:
- Written request addressed to the director of ENIM.
- Internal mediation by the director of ENIM or of the Doctoral School.
- External mediation if necessary, by a faculty member from a similar doctoral school.
- Last resort referral to the president of the University of Monastir.
